NORFOLK
Project Name: Norfolk Firehouse Project
Request Amount: $500,000
Intended Recipient: Town of Norfolk
Full Street Address of the Intended Recipient: 19 Maple Ave, Norfolk, CT 06058
Financial Disclosure Letter
Explanation of the Request: The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because the current facility is too small and lacks many of the health and safety that are common in new firehouses. The distance between the equipment is too small, making it dangerous for volunteers when there is a fire call and trucks are exiting the building. The facility also lacks an adequate ventilation system to extract the exhaust gases from the trucks, forcing Norfolk Firehouse volunteers to hold general meetings or training sessions outside. It was difficult for first responders to respond during emergencies such as the 8200-gallon gas spill in November '22 and flooding in July of '23 because of the current facility. The grant will help cover the costs of constructing a new facility.
ROXBURY
Project Name: Construction of Roxbury Ambulance Building
Request Amount: $1,000,000
Intended Recipient: Town of Roxbury
Full Street Address of the Intended Recipient: 29 North Street, Roxbury, CT 06783
Financial Disclosure Letter
Explanation of the Request: The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because this project is critical for the health and safety of the community. Currently, the Volunteer Ambulance Association shares a building with the Firehouse, thus several vehicles must sit outside or stored in remote locations. Due to limited space, one of the ambulances must be stored 1/2 mile away, extending response time. In addition to the vehicles, equipment must also be stored in various locations, reducing efficiency at critical moments. As the town grows, and ambulance calls increase, the need for a new building is evident. As emergency calls have doubled in the last 5 years, the needs of the Ambulance Association and community have increased.

This includes providing Tang Soo Do martial arts classes, promoting discipline and physical fitness; covering the cost of referees for sports leagues, ensuring fair play and structured competition; supplying sports uniforms, enhancing team identity and pride among participants.
STATEWIDE
Project Name: QCT Connect
Request Amount: $1,747,000
Intended Recipient: QuantumCT
Full Street Address of the Intended Recipient: 470 James Street, Suite 9, New Haven, CT 06513
Financial Disclosure Letter
Explanation of the Request: The project is an appropriate use of taxpayer funds because it would position Connecticut as a national hub for quantum technology, application, and workforce development. The project includes four high-impact initiatives to achieve this: (1) Workforce Development; (2) Community Education and Engagement; (3) Quantum Technology Collaboration; and (4) Student Internships. NIST funding is critical to ensuring Connecticut competes in the rapidly advancing quantum economy. Quantum technologies are already beginning to reshape global industries — from pharmaceuticals and finance to national security — and early leadership will determine which regions will attract talent, capital, and companies. With world-class research institutions, a robust industrial base, and an emerging statewide strategy, Connecticut has the core ingredients to lead — but lacks the dedicated infrastructure and personnel to fully activate its potential.
