Do you support comprehensive gun reform?
That is all the time it took for two separate mass shootings to occur in the United States of America.
13 hours. 2 cities. 31 lives lost. 53 injured.
The unfathomable inaction of our national leaders has allowed our country to become a place where we fear for our lives in the most mundane of settings.
At school. At the movies. At concerts. At church. At the store.
As the tide of white nationalism rises in our country - fueled by an increase in racist and xenophobic rhetoric - communities are being devastated by the astounding accessibility of military-grade weapons.
In the hands of hateful individuals, these weapons of war rip apart countless families in just seconds.
These acts of violence have to stop.
Mass shooting after mass shooting, we are reminded:
We are not safe. All of our communities, no matter the zip code, are in constant danger of gun violence.
There are clear steps we can take:
Ban assault weapons.
Mandate universal background checks.
Ban bump stocks.
Fund gun violence prevention research.
Prevent people we know are dangerous from buying weapons.
I believe that it is time for common sense gun reforms like these. Do you?
