Dear Friend,

Two years ago, congressional opponents of universal health care celebrated their vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and take away health care from millions of American citizens. Even though their constituents from across the country have repeatedly made it clear that they value quality, affordable, and accessible health care provided by the ACA, opponents of this legislation have not backed down on their fight to take away health care from those who need it most.

Just last week, the Department of Justice filed a brief in federal court that would dismantle the entire Affordable Care Act.

Among the many concerning outcomes, should this argument succeed in court, is the fact that 130 million Americans with pre-existing conditions could lose coverage.

Now is the time to stand up for access to affordable health care for all Americans. This week, the House will vote on H.R. 986, the Protecting Americans with Pre-existing Conditions Act of 2019. This legislation would revoke Department of Health and Human Services guidance that has weakened protections for individuals with pre-existing conditions.

Should Americans be denied health insurance coverage because of a pre-existing condition?
