Today, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) applauded the Department of Energy’s decision to award $3 million to FuelCell Energy, Inc. of Danbury, Connecticut to advance the development and commercialization of FuelCell Energy’s Reversible Solid Oxide Fuel Cell Systems.

“I was excited to learn of this funding from the U.S. Department of Energy, which will provide significant support for FuelCell Energy as they work to develop a reversible solid oxide fuel cell (RSOFC) system.” said Congresswoman Hayes. “This is a hybrid operation system that performs water electrolysis to produce and store hydrogen, which can then be used as power. This is well-deserved recognition for FuelCell Energy, and I am pleased to see their innovation contributing to the Department of Energy's goal of clean, cost-effective, long duration energy storage.”

In March, Congresswoman Hayes joined House colleagues in sending a Fiscal Year 2021 Appropriations request for $170 million in federal funding for the Fuel Cell Technologies Office within the DOE Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy.

FuelCell Energy, Inc. is a global leader in developing environmentally responsible distributed baseload power solutions through our proprietary, molten-carbonate fuel cell technology. FuelCell Energy, Inc. develops turn-key distributed power generation solutions and operates and provides comprehensive service for the life of the power plant. They are working to expand the proprietary technologies that we have developed over the past five decades into new products, applications, markets and geographies. Their mission and purpose remains to utilize our proprietary, state-of-the-art fuel cell platforms to reduce the global environmental footprint of baseload power generation by providing environmentally responsible solutions for reliable electrical power, hot water, steam, chilling, distributed hydrogen, microgrid applications, electrolysis, long-duration hydrogen-based energy storage and carbon capture.
