Washington, D.C. – Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) released the following statement following the departure of her Chief of Staff, Joe Dunn.

“Joe was instrumental in getting this office up and running, even during the midst of the longest government shutdown in U.S. history,” said Congresswoman Hayes. “His years of experience and knowledge of the Hill were vital to getting so much accomplished in my first six months, including introducing key legislation, navigating the appropriations process, and staffing two offices. I am so thankful for his guidance and his dedication.”

Prior to serving as Hayes’ Chief of Staff, Dunn worked in the office of Senator Chris Murphy, most recently as Senior Policy Advisor.

“As we wish Joe well in his next chapter, I am proud to announce the appointment of Acacia Bamberg Salatti as my new Chief of Staff,” Hayes said. “Acacia’s extensive policy experience and far-reaching network will be an invaluable resource for this office and my constituents. I am thrilled to have her join the office in this capacity.”

Salatti comes to Hayes’ office from Planned Parenthood Hudson Peconic, where she was the Vice President of External Affairs. Prior to that, she was Director for Faith Based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) in the Obama Administration. Before HHS, Salatti spent six years in the office of Congressman James Clyburn (D-SC). Prior to her time on the Hill, Salatti worked for the South Carolina Department of Education.

“Acacia is a results-oriented leader with an ability to bring community stakeholders together. Her passion for health and education equity align seamlessly with my vision,” said Hayes. “Her strategic insight and ability to forge strong relationships will be of great value to my constituents.”

Salatti will assume the position of Chief of Staff on August 3, 2019.
