WASHINGTON – Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) provides a statement on the Shuttered Venue Operators Grants (SVOG) recently approved for CT-05 music and entertainment businesses.
“To date, 30 venues in the Fifth District have been approved to receive Shuttered Venue Operators Grants, totaling $11,119,468 million. Connecticut small businesses have been hit hard by the pandemic, crippling our local economy, and causing painful layoffs. The Shuttered Venue Operators Grant is helping businesses recover from loss and bring jobs back to my district,” said Congresswoman Hayes.
The Small Venue Operators Grant program was established through the bipartisan Economic Aid to Hard-Hit Small Businesses, Nonprofits, and Venues (Economic Aid) Act, as part of end of year appropriations legislation in 2020. The program appropriated $15 billion for grants, administered by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) Office of Disaster Assistance.
