WATERBURY – Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) recently announced the continuation of her signature “Casework on Your Corner” program in Danbury and Meriden. Since taking office in 2019, Congresswoman Hayes has hosted over 80 “Casework on Your Corner” events throughout the Fifth District to provide constituent services that are more accessible to constituents in different parts of the district. Last year the office successfully closed more than 750 cases and returned $9.9 million to constituents through casework.

“"Casework on Your Corner” was established to bring caseworkers directly to constituents at public libraries, farmers markets, small businesses, and community events. The next event will be held on Tuesday, August 8th, 2023 at Meriden City Hall. Caseworkers will be on-site from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

“Casework on Your Corner’ reflects my commitment to actively be in the communities where constituents live. Your concerns deserve attention, compassion, and resolution. To that end I’ve added additional opportunities for my team to meet constituents, answer questions, and open new cases in real-time,” said Congresswoman Hayes.

Congresswoman Hayes and her dedicated casework staff stand ready to help constituents navigate problems with a federal agency including the:

  1. Social Security Administration (SSA)
  2. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)

  4. U.S. Department of State
  5. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
  6. U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and other federal programs and agencies.

What constituents are saying:

“Our new passport for our newborn daughter was lost in the mail. We tried to reach out to the passport agency multiple times to no availability. We were at a loss on what to do. When we contacted Congresswoman Hayes’ office, we received immediate assistance. Our caseworker was amazing at helping us secure a new passport. We are so grateful for the support from everyone at Congresswoman Hayes’ team.”– Joshua of Meriden (2023)

“I was on the verge of losing my job and health insurance for my family due to a delay in processing my employment authorization. My son has a rare disease. He must take a life-saving medication which is very expensive. I was devastated and reached out to Congresswoman Hayes’s office. Her team immediately started working on my case and I was able to get my employment authorization renewal just in time to secure my job. I am so incredibly grateful for your help.” – Daksshi of Bethel (2023)

The Office of Congresswoman Hayes’ helped me receive my refund of $1,700. The refund was delayed for 3-months. As a single mother, it was important for me to receive my refund, especially due to inflation. Thank you, Congresswoman!” – Chiaohsin of Danbury (2023)
