WATERBURY, Conn. – In response to news that the city of New Britain, Connecticut, will be the recipient of $2,353,066 in grant funding from the Department of Homeland Security, United States Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) released the following statement:
“I am pleased that another community in my district will benefit from the Department of Homeland Security’s SAFER Grant Program. This critical $2.3 million in funding will provide a significant investment to increase the ranks of the New Britain Fire Department, rehire laid off firefighters, and recruit and retain volunteer firefighters. During the federal appropriations season, I was proud to work with my colleagues in the Connecticut congressional delegation to advocate for and secure this funding. The commitment to our bravest public servants must be backed up by funding for needed resources and supports.”
