Today, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) voted for the Continuing Appropriations Act, 2021, a continuing resolution to fund the government through December 11, preventing a government shutdown at the end of the month.

“I supported the Continuing Resolution today because the bill is essential to keeping the government funded through December 11, 2020.” said Congresswoman Jahana Hayes. “We cannot normalize the frequent occurrence of a government shutdown in our country. Amidst the coronavirus pandemic, the government needs to be open to serve the American people. Another government shutdown would ripple throughout the entire economy, shake consumer confidence and delay critical services for residents of Connecticut.

“In addition to continuing to fund the government, the Continuing Appropriations Act includes SNAP waivers and pandemic EBT extensions, which will help many families who are struggling during this time.

“I urge the Senate to be responsible and work with the House of Representatives to get this bill passed, and sent immediately to the president.”
