WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) announced she will continue to serve on the House Committees of Education and Workforce and Agriculture for the 119th Congress. Additionally, Congresswoman Hayes has been chosen by her colleagues to remain as the Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Nutrition and Foreign Agriculture.
“I am honored to continue serving on two critical committees – the Committee on Education and Workforce and the Committee on Agriculture – which oversee policy for everyone from our youngest learners to postsecondary education, workforce development and retirees,” said Congresswoman Hayes.
As a member of the House Committee on Education and Workforce, Congresswoman Hayes will continue to leverage her experience as an educator to promote policies that ensure positive educational outcomes for students, educators and families and protect the rights of workers
She will serve on the Subcommittees on Early Childhood, Elementary, and Secondary Education, and Health, Employment, Labor, and Pensions.
“This Congress, I will continue to bring my perspective as a teacher to the Committee on Education and Workforce,” said Congresswoman Hayes. “There is much work to be done to protect public education and ensure the next generation is well-equipped to compete in the global economy.”
Since entering Congress in 2019, Congresswoman Hayes has also served on the House Committee on Agriculture, where she has advocated for small farmers and producers like those in the Fifth District, worked to advance conservation efforts, and fought to protect global food aid and food safety net programs like the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program.
Congresswoman Hayes will continue serving as Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Nutrition and Foreign Agriculture and remain on the Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy, and Poultry.
“This Congress, the Committee on Agriculture must finalize a Farm Bill that addresses the needs of all Americans. As Ranking Member on the Subcommittee on Nutrition, I hope to work toward solutions that support both farmers and families,” said Congresswoman Hayes. “I will continue my advocacy for the needs of small farmers and growers like those in my district who deserve the same consideration as others when legislation is being crafted.”
