WATERBURY – On Sunday, September 22, as part of Passport Awareness Month, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) hosted a Passport Day event at Waterbury City Hall. During Passport Day, residents of the Fifth District were invited to file applications for a U.S. Passport or Passport Card, and representatives from the U.S. Department of State were onsite to assist in filing applications. 135 passport applications were processed during the event.

“Applying for or renewing a passport can be challenging. I heard directly from constituents who were having trouble getting an appointment or unsure how to begin an application. To streamline the process, my office launched our Passport Day events. Through partnering with the Department of State we have assisted over 1,000 individuals with obtaining the proper documents to travel abroad,” said Congresswoman Hayes. “My office is always seeking ways to better connect constituents with federal resources. Whether it is applying for a passport or need assistance with another federal agency, my office is here to help all who call the Fifth District home.

Since 2023, Passport Day events hosted by Congresswoman Hayes have helped process over 450 applications for passports and passport cards and successfully closed 648 passport related cases.

In addition to passport services, the office of Congresswoman Hayes assists Fifth District residents with issues regarding federal agencies, including cases involving Social Security, Medicare, the Internal Revenue Service, veterans benefits, immigration, and the Small Business Administration.

Since the beginning of the 118th Congress in January 2023, the office of Congresswoman Hayes has closed over 1,500 cases involving federal agencies, delivering for Fifth District residents.
