WATERBURY – Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) recently announced the expansion of her signature ‘Casework on Your Corner’ program into Farmington Valley.

The Farmington Senior Center will host the Office of Congresswoman Hayes for monthly Casework on Your Corner office hours. The first event in Farmington will be held Wednesday, February 14, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Caseworkers will be on-site to help with federal issues, share resources and answer questions about ways we can be of assistance.

Since taking office in 2019, Congresswoman Hayes has closed over 800 cases for constituents in the Farmington Valley – with 123 of those cases being closed in 2023. To expand on this work Congresswoman Hayes is bringing her casework team to the area.

Casework on Your Corner’ was established to bring caseworkers directly to constituents at public libraries, farmers markets, small businesses, and community events.

“Casework on Your Corner is a valuable way to meet constituents where they are and provide assistance and support with federal agencies,” said Congresswoman Hayes (CT-05). “This year, I am excited to expand the program to the Farmington Valley so we can meet constituents and open cases in real time.”

The Farmington Senior Center already serves as a vibrant space for residents to come together to share experiences, attend programs, and socialize with peers.

The addition of a Farmington Valley expands upon our established programs in Meriden and Danbury and will increase accessibility to the services provided by our office.

Congresswoman Hayes and our dedicated team stand ready to help constituents navigate problems with federal agencies including:

  1. Social Security Administration (SSA)
  2. U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA)
  3. Internal Revenue Service (IRS)
  4. U.S. Department of State
  5. U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS)
  6. U.S. Postal Service (USPS) and other federal programs and agencies.

Constituents who have questions or are experiencing an issue with a federal agency are encouraged to attend a “Casework on Your Corner” event or call 860-223-8412. More information on how to obtain assistance can be found here

What constituents are saying:

My father, a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, passed away in 1984. I knew very little about his military service. I contacted Congresswoman Hayes' office to get information on any medals or decorations that my father may have earned due to his service in Korea,” said William, a resident of Simsbury. “Her office was not only able to provide that information but was also able to obtain replacement medals and send them to me. Special thanks to the caseworker who stayed on top of this from start to finish, keeping me constantly informed with frequent updates and giving me peace of mind that my father was not going to be forgotten.”

“Rep. Hayes and her office were able to work miracles for my case and set up an urgent appointment for me to receive my passport. I had applied for a passport and was delayed for 8 weeks. As a last resort, I contacted Rep. Hayes's office the week before my travel,” said Ben, a resident of Canton.

"Jahana Hayes and her team is amazing. They are always working for the people. We had international travel coming up and our daughter's passport hadn't come. When I called the passport agency, it sounded like we would not be able to travel. Jahana and her team actively worked around the clock and was able to get the passport in less than 72 hours. We are truly grateful to her and team! Thank you,” said Divesh, a resident of Farmington.
