Today, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) issued the following statement after the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg:

“I am saddened by the death of Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.” said Hayes. “She lived a uniquely-American life, as a champion for women, a teacher and a resolute justice who flourished in the face of adversity. I respected her ambition, dedication, and intellect. She forced everyone to see beyond stereotypes and live out their full potential. This is a profound loss for the nation, as we say goodbye to a leader and defender of the Constitution. Justice Ginsburg’s death is a heartbreaking loss for our country.

“My thoughts and prayers are with her entire family. On this first night of Rosh Hashanah, we celebrate her life and mourn her death.”
