WASHINGTON - Today, Congresswoman Jahana Hayes (CT-05) provided a statement on the passage of the Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act:
"Once again, the House has taken necessary action to protect the right to vote and ensure that every American has their voice heard. Without the most basic right to vote, our democracy is in jeopardy. The Freedom to Vote: John R. Lewis Act sets national standards for voting and safeguards our elections for generations to come," said Congresswoman Hayes.
Congresswoman Jahana Hayes sits on the Committees on Education & Labor and Agriculture and proudly represents Connecticut’s 5th District. She was a public school teacher in Connecticut for more than 15 years and was recognized in 2016 as the National Teacher of the Year.
