WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congresswoman Jahana Hayes released the following statement Wednesday, after House introduction of the Medicare for All Act. The bill was drafted by Rep. Pramila Jayapal (WA-07), and has over 100 cosponsors.

“I know how important quality, affordable health care is for the people of Connecticut’s Fifth District. I ran on a platform of providing health care coverage for more people, and the Medicare for All Act will achieve that goal.

“Nearly 30 million Americans are uninsured. Another 40 million cannot afford the costs of their co-pays or deductibles. People should not have to choose between their health and their livelihoods. Working families deserve better. Our job as lawmakers is to provide them with better outcomes and that is what we are doing by supporting this legislation.”
